Organizers of New York Comic-Con have just announced that Takeshi Obata, the acclaimed artist behind Death Note, All You Need is Kill, Bakuman and many others, will be making his New York Comic-Con debut this coming October. Takeshi Obata joins an already massive creator guest list for this year’s event, which takes place from October 9th through the 12th, 2014 at Javits Center in New York City.

American Cinematheque is accepting open entries from student animators for their “Animation for Adults Shorts Program.” This short series is part of an extensive animation festival that will include cult classics such as Fritz the Cat, Heavy Metal, Castle in the Sky, Waking Life, Paprika, Cowboy Bebop: The Movie and many more.
